Ambot tik – a Goan fish curry that’s sour-hot.
Ingredients for Ambot tik
Half kilo shark or prawns
8 Kashmiri chillies
2-3 garlic flakes
Half tsp peppercorns
Ginger – approx quarter inch piece
Half tsp jeera (cumin)
I onion sliced (medium size)
A ball of tamarind (small)
Salt to taste
Method
Grind the ginger, garlic, chillies, cumin, peppercorns and tamarind all together in vinegar.
Fry the onion, add the ground masala, shark (or prawns) and salt.
Add warm water to cover ingredients and then cook till fish (or prawns) is done.
